The white valcro creates an interesting pattern under UV light... as though they are floating dots in the air.

Styrene vs. Rubber bands

After testing the different connection, and after weighing the pros and cons for each connection, we have decided to go with Rubberbands. By photoshopping the rubberbands, we realised that the white rubberbands will be much more effective than our current brown one.

Today, we focused much more on the fabrication and the connection between each module, hence, we built a 1.6metre tall section to test out some possible connection points and ways.

Finally we have gotten all our bottles into the Tamaki gym, and IT ALL FITTED in our bay. Stay tuned. 1 more month till exhibition... it's going to get BUSY around here!

Wednesday and Thursday. One aim- to "make" 1200 bottles.

Thanks to the kind sponsorship from Tony from 'Pure Dew', we were fortunate enough to be part of the production of the main material for our skyrise- water tank (bottles). It was a great experience to know how our bottles were created and the research was valuable.

New solution

Digital render of the new design with new bottles, each individual water tank is filled with tonic water, as tonic water will give off a subtle light blue glow under UV lights placed within the structure, the entire tower will be self illuminated and create an elegant and amazing atmosphere.

holidays = more work

Normally, holidays = a break; but for us, holiday = more work and testing...

Since we are using the new bottle design, we are currently testing the different ways of connecting the bottles. We have used packaging straps (previous post), super mixed glue, UHU plastic glue, normal valcro with UHU glue... and finally the best one way, sticky back valcro.... :) It creates very interesting pattern especially the circular ones- creating these floating white dots?

Valcro- Best solution at the moment since it gives enough friction and stability
